A simple deep work routine for remote workers
Working from home means endless pings and no one to notice you drifting. A realistic daily routine for getting focused work done.

Quick answer
Block your two or three sharpest hours, work in long rounds such as 50 minutes on and 10 off, batch messages into the breaks, and review your focus time weekly. A timer with auto-start and statistics, like Omeu, keeps the routine going.

Remote work gives you freedom and takes away structure. No commute, no colleague glancing at your screen, and Slack is always one tab away. Deep work, the hard, focused kind, gets squeezed out by a day of small replies.
Block your best hours
Most people have two or three hours a day when their brain works best. For many it's the morning. Put those hours in your calendar as busy and protect them like a meeting.
Work in rounds
Use longer rounds than classic Pomodoros for deep work: 50 minutes on, 10 off, three or four times. Set it once in Omeu and turn on auto-start so the next round begins without you fiddling with settings.

Batch the small stuff
- Check messages and email in your breaks, not during rounds.
- Set your status to "focusing" so teammates know when you'll reply.
- Keep a notepad for things that pop into your head. Deal with them later.
Review your week
On Friday, look at your focus time. Omeu shows sessions, hours, active days and your streak by day, week or month, all stored on your phone. If the number's low, you'll know which meetings to move next week.
